🌿 VEGanuary 2023 Challenge!
WELCOME TO VECADO'S VEGANUARY CHALLENGE - WEEK 4!
FINAL WEEK OF VEGANUARY!
THIS PAST WEEK, WE HAD MANY PET GUARDIANS JOIN US BECAUSE OF A FRIEND'S RECOMMENDATION - WHICH WE LOVE TO HEAR! THANK YOU FOR SPREADING THE WORD ABOUT OUR VEGANUARY CHALLENGE!
Over these last few weeks, we heard what the experts says about pets being on a vegan diet. We also saw how plant-based kibbles are as nutritionally complete as meat-based kibbles and provide all essential nutrients to your pet.
This final week, we’re diving into the transition to a plant-based diet. Read more below for tips and tricks on how to make the transition a smooth process.
1- Start gradually
When first introducing any new food to your pet, you want to start slowly.
Ideally over a two-week period, gradually add 1 part of the new food to 4 parts of the current food until you’re only serving the plant-based kibbles. Starting slowly will give the body the time it needs to adapt to new food.
Tips: You can add a little water to soften the kibble, and always have a clean bowl of water available.
2- Add a supporting supplement to aid digestion
When switching to a plant-based diet, your pet's digestive system might need time to adjust.
While this is not a requirement, we recommend adding enzymes for better digestion, especially for pets with sensitive stomach. Enzymes help avoid issues such as runny stools and upset stomachs.
Digestive enzymes, such as Enzyme Miracle and Green Mush help assimilate plant-based matter into the body and maximize the adsorption of the nutrients in the plant-based kibbles, while decreasing the food requirement.
3- Add a nutrient-rich flavours to food
Adding toppers and flavour enhancers, such as the Nummy Tum Tum Organic Sweet Potato and Organic Pumpkin, as well as pNooch (nutritional yeast that adds a cheese flavour that most pet loves!), can be greatly beneficial when transitioning to a new diet.
These enhancers can help picky eaters by adding natural flavours, and have many important health benefits.
They make a great addition to the transition phase (and beyond!) by preventing digestive issues and upset stomachs that might occur during the transition phase.
